North - Part 2 : Humahuaca, Purmamarca & Salinas Grandes

Whoops... I forgot to take the time to write another article yesterday. Bad bad bad... So here am I to send you the promised news. Today, North and West of Tilcara.

Humahuaca :
Humahuaca is a small village north of Tilcara, but its name is more known because of the Quebrada we talked about yesterday. But the village is reaaaally cute. Have a look at this !

Oh. Yeah. My brother has a better device than I do.

Jajaja (c) Ien

Something's wrong here...

Ien's got an eye.

Purmamarca :
Yet another town close to Tilcara. Very cute as well, as you can see : small short houses, white walls, incredible blue sky, and all the virgin charm of the cities of North of Argentina (precisely, here, in the Provincia of Jujuy). Enjoy it, just imagine the smell of wet rocks in the morning, the grilled empanadas salteñas at lunch, and the rock dust in the afternoon...

Salinas Grandes : Highway to Sel :

Aaaaaah las Salinas Grandes. Incredible landscape here. Not the most impressive, for sure, but undoubtedly the most unusual. I mean, mountains are almost scary throughout their shape, their size, their color and, overall their age. But they stay far, you look at them like a sort of icon, a God or something (Fujiyama inside...). But DUDE !! The Salinas ! You walk on it ! You walk on an infinite field of salt. Just salt. Yeah I tasted. COME ON !! I'm sure you'd have done the same... No ? Well, I did, and it is true salt. Yes I brought some for cooking. ... No, I'm joking. ... And I'm joking when I say I am. Anyway.

Oh, first off : the way there. Yes, it is important, too, because we have to deserve the Salinas Grandes. 2 hours of crazy drive, drinking mate and speaking spanish with a very nice Peruvian lady, enjoying the Northentina landscapes. Hard time. ... :D

Somebody, bring O2. OK, gimme some laurel

Yeah, this too was Unesco'd

Las Salinas Grandes :

Ok, here we finally arrived. Sunglasses are compulsory. With the reflexion on salt, you have no other choice than protect your eyes from the above as much as the ground. So : take care of you retina. And cream yourself. I mean, put sunblock. And then : enjoy the immensity of the landscape.
My friend Ruben just told me why there was so much salt : before, there was a sea, here. And it evaporated, so there only salt left. Which means, that maybe we could dig and fine some eatable salted fish under the crust of salt...

Dude ! Salt's floating !! This water is so stuffed with salt that salt itself can't even dissolve !

After sandball, saltball. Thanks Keyla for this pun, you rock my life.

Que facha tiene, no ?

Now, the tricky pictures. I know you opened this article ONLY to see that, kids ;)

:D

Maybe see you later today ;)
