North - Part 3 : Cachi, Cafayate, Quilmes, Cordoba and related :)

Here is the last third of the Brother'd North of Argentina Travel. This article is quite long, because there are many destinations, and many things, and it was impossible (or rather difficult, or potentially a loss, etc.) to take many pictures off. And anyway : you love my pictures and my travel. And I decide what I put there. And you decide to read it or not :)

So, after our last destination (enjoyed the suspens ?), we went to Cachi. We woke up early, as a change, and headed back to Salta to give the car back, and take a bus to Cachi !

The Road to Cachi :
There aren't many pictures of the road, but most of them are really nice, and give you a good impression of the very changing quality of the road.

You can't really feel how steep the valley was 1m out of the road, but it was, trust me.

Colors change, along with the road.

Cachi :
We finally arrived to Cachi ! A few photos, because the light on the small white house was simply magnificent.

Oh, yeah. It's Eastern, let's hang Judas up.

Genuint Cactus wood.

Cafayate :

Cafayate was our last big town before Cordoba. Well... "big town". Anyway. We had loads of things to do around the area, including the legendary Quebrada de las Conchas. 47km of bike ride at noon. Get tanned, or die trying. ... Don't worry, we got tanned :)

Quebrada de las Conchas :

Gotta go there by bus. The overqualified pendejo handling the ventanilla told us that coming in the morning of the day after to rent a bike was soon enough. It wasn't. Hopefully, after one hour of hitckhiking, a very nice lawyer took us to La Garganta del Diablo (yeah, another one). Awesome.

La Garganta del Diablo.
OK, let's have a short brief about this picture. I don't know how technology (or talent) can make you realise how curved is this area. I mean, look at Ien standing vertical, normal posture. Then look at the end of the wall, that definitely doesn't look vertical, does it ? Don't you have the feeling you look at it from above ? Strange, eh ?
I think it was, a few years ago a normal canyon, but its end just got lifted by the tectonic moves, and now, you have this incredible structure, indescriptible with words or pictures. Maybe it's descriptible, but we, overall, just enjoyed it with eyes, and had a try with pictures.

 The Amphitheater. Same topo.

Here began our true bike trip. 48km, starting at 12h09.

Yeah, I know.

El Sapo. The toad.

C'mon, that wasn't that dangerous.

Yeah, amazing composition, one-handed, while riding. I'm a fricking genius.

Water and alfajores break.

Etretat.

At the end, we did it. 5 hours of ride, heat, sun, rock, freedom, sweat, fun. And blister on thumbs, as far as I'm concerned.

Vallees Calchaquies :

Well, chronologically speaking, this is not perfect. But let's say that these Valleys are around the area, and we took these pictures with the guys who took us from Cachi to Cafayate. The next few points are say "things we saw in this area". I know, that could be more precise. But who cares ? I don't. I mean, not now. Oh, come on ! You just want to see our great pictures, don't you ?

Authentic old style Poncho weaving system.

 The machine.

The machinist.

Colome :
Colome's a wine fabric we visited while hitch-hiking between Cachi and Cafayate. A few well known names here :)

Life's hard, eh?

Molinos :
Another very cute town on the road to Cafayate :

Cafayate : the town (at last ?) :

Here we arrived !! Thanks dudes for this hitch hiking, this food treat, this... oh wait, they're not reading. Anyway :

Ha ha ha. A 5 legged donkey.

Pas cher pour un hostel...

The Quilmes Ruins :
South from Cafayate, the Quilmes Ruins. Arrived there at 6am. Aoutch. Worth it, trust me...

"La montaña no viaja pero camina en el corazon de los que la ama, y encontra su camino hastal el alma".
Gracias a nuestro guia.

Amaicha :
Small town south Quilmes, peaceful atmosphere !

The sun works hard here...

 Cordoba- Alta Gracia :
We arrived to Cordoba during the night. We took a night bus from Tucumán until Cordoba, and we don't take any pictures from Tucumán. Yeah, we just stayed a few hours in the bus station and then slept in the bus.

So, what it Alta Gracia ? It is a town near Cordoba, say 20min far, where you can wander, take pictures, chill out, eat delicious wok de mariscos, see Gorgeous Estancias Jesuitas, and visit the house where the Che lived his youth.

... gracias.

Chilled park...

And the house of the Che !

His bike.

 His motorcycle.

Hey gorgeous !

Cordoba : Cordoba !

And from there, we left to Buenos Aires again. The end of all the ways I took during these 6 last months. This time, even fuller of memories, experiences, and unforgettable images. Cheers ! And thanks a LOT to Ien for his company, his organization and photographic skills, his patience, his jokes and everything !
